Religious Function Catering
Catering for religious functions and ceremonies
Religious functions often come with specific requirements about what may be cooked, how it is prepared and when it is served. Tell us what your function requires and we will work to it rather than assume it.
We follow your requirements rather than presume them
Practices vary considerably between families, traditions and communities. Rather than decide on your behalf what a religious meal should be, we ask you to set out what is required, confirm that list back to you in writing, and cook to it.
That covers what must be excluded, whether separate vessels or a separate preparation area are needed, and the order and timing of service. Where a fully Jain or no onion, no garlic menu is wanted, we prepare the entire menu that way rather than adapting parts of it.
We cater pujas and community functions at homes, halls and temples in Gwalior, with seated service where that suits the occasion.
How we approach religious function catering
Sattvic preparations
Menus prepared without onion and garlic, and without root vegetables where required.
Traditional serving formats
Seated pangat service, banana leaf meals and thali formats where these suit the occasion.
Community-scale functions
Formats that work for temple and community events as well as private family ceremonies.
Your requirements, confirmed in writing
What is excluded and how it is prepared is agreed before the event, not discussed on the day.

Religious Function Catering questions
If your question is not here, ask us directly. We would rather answer it before you book than leave you guessing.
Read all FAQsWhat does your Jain food exclude?
We prepare Jain menus to the requirements you specify. Commonly this means no onion and no garlic, and no root vegetables such as potato, carrot, beetroot, radish or ginger. Requirements vary between families and communities, so we ask you to tell us exactly what should be excluded rather than assuming, and we confirm that list back to you before the event.
Is Jain food kept separate from the rest of the menu?
Yes. Where Jain or no onion, no garlic dishes are part of a wider menu, they are prepared separately and kept separate through service, with their own serving utensils.
Can the entire menu be Jain rather than just part of it?
Yes. A complete menu, from welcome drinks through to desserts, can be prepared without onion, garlic and root vegetables. Many religious functions and housewarmings are catered this way.
Can you cater for large events?
We cater for a range of event sizes. What we can take on depends on the date, the venue and the menu, so share your expected numbers when you enquire and we will confirm straight away.
Do you provide service staff?
Yes. Service staff can be arranged according to the guest count and the service format, whether that is buffet, seated service or a combination.
